5000 Blankets is a movie starring Anna Camp that will only be in theaters on December 12th and 13th.
Many thanks to Sony Pictures for providing a sample product for this review. My opinions are 100% my own.
If you're looking for a story that will break your heart and restore your hope in humanity, look no further.
As part of a military family, I have lived in eight states. The homeless problem in the US is the same, no matter where you live or where you go.
Some states are better than hiding it than others, but I promise you, if you look, you'll find them, and that's precisely what this movie is about.
Seeing people we otherwise overlook or, even worse, ignore.
Film Synopsis:
Inspired by a remarkable true story, 5000 BLANKETS is filled with hope and highlights the power of family and faith.
When her husband Bobby (Rob Mayes) has a mental breakdown and goes missing, Cyndi Saunders (Anna Camp) and her young son Phillip (Carson Minniear) set out to find him on the streets, sparking a movement of compassion towards those in need and inspiring a
city.
The Story of Phillip's Wish:
5000 Blankets is the birth story of Phillip's Wish. I was surprised I had never heard of the non-profit since I had just moved from Fort Worth five months ago.
I searched for volunteer opportunities when I arrived and never came across their site.
Phillip's Wish is an organization founded by a little boy who saw a need in his community and decided to act on it.
I love that this movie shares the story of a child that brings about change in his family, church, and community.
It's important to remember that anyone can make a difference, and sometimes it's the hardest things in life that transform and soften our hearts.
I love the feel-good story of this movie, and I would love to see a story centered around Bobby and what the family went through in dealing with that.
I want to see that story, which is timely and much-needed.
