Freelance Movie (2024) starring Nicole Pastor is coming to digital and cable VOD on January 28th, 2025. I'm sharing the movie poster below, but you should check out the IMDb version because it grabs your attention!

Freelance (2024) - It's Not Paranormal If It's Real:
Synopsis: "Katie, a freelance video editor in desperate need of work, receives a high-paying offer to edit a cryptic and bizarre video from an anonymous employer. Strapped for cash and facing eviction, Katie eagerly accepts the gig. The video depicts people being tortured and even killed on camera — surely just elaborately staged fiction. But when the first job leads to even more lucrative work, and more disturbingly realistic snuff films, Katie's life begins to crumble. Strange figures in her apartment, horrific nightmares keeping her awake, and a mysterious illness plaguing her cat. It's only when Katie decides to finally quit the job that she learns just how cruel her anonymous employer really is, and to what bloody lengths she herself will go to get out of her contract."
This description is giving Hostel (2005) and Pretty Girls by Karen Slaughter (2015) vibes. Since I loved both that movie (I did have to cover my eyes) and the book, watching the trailer is a must!
Freelance Movie Trailer:
After watching the trailer, I was intrigued that Katie couldn't tell the difference between what is real and what is a dream (nightmare?).
Movies like this always make me question reality and whether some unknown details skew my perception I may have missed. I think I will have to watch this one, and hopefully, it won't make my stomach churn.
Cast and Crew: Do We Know Them?
I don't recognize anyone from this film except Jasper Bagg, but if you've seen Rage, you will probably recognize a few faces.
Director: John Balazs (Rage 2021)
Writer: Mike Gerbino (Body Farm is currently in post-production, and I want to see it!)
Cast: Nicole Pastor (Deadly Women on Investigation Discovery), Jordan Fraser-Trumble, Stephen Degenaro, Jasper Bagg (Thor: Ragnarok (Warden), and Ricky Stanicky), Hannah Brook (Police Officer in Clickbait)
Freelance looks both anxiety and thought-provoking. I love a good psychological thriller, and based on the reviews it delivers. It has three reviews on Rotten Tomatoes, and they all seem pleased with the film.
You can watch this movie on AppleTV beginning January 28, 2025.
