I am always looking for shows that I can watch with my children. While I love cartoons and the excitement of our favorite superheroes coming to the big stream, what I'm always looking for are family based stories we can watch together. I love with when movies and shows offer up teachable moments. When a show can make my children ask questions about family, faith, or forgiveness, I know we have a good show.
A few days ago my daughters and I watched the first two episodes of The Eleventh on Feeln. I had no idea what to expect and after watching the first episode we all turned and looked at each other like "That's it? They are just going to leave us hanging?". Thankfully we watched the second episode right after that, but it didn't answer any questions either. Now we are all hooked just waiting for the third episode. We want to understand what is happening, after all, the writers have done an amazing job of opening the show in what appears to be the middle of the plot. We have no clue what happened before and are only allowed to see bits and pieces of this puzzle we are so desperate to figure out.
Here's what I can tell you about this show (and all I knew when I started it):
"‘The Eleventh’ is a Feeln original drama series that focuses on a young girl’s journey to getting to know her estranged grandmother in order to bring closure to the past and unite her family."
Yep, that's all they told us. So after two episodes my daughters have so many questions.
They want to understand why Janine doesn't know her grandmother. They want to know why Janine's dad can't forgive Margaret (the grandmother). They also just want to know what the heck is going on and honestly, so do I. I love that there is so much mystery woven into every scene because it allows my mind to go in so many different directions. It also helps me talk to my daughters about how difficult forgiveness can be and how bitterness can put such a wedge between even the closest of family members.
If you haven't had a chance to see the show I encourage you to take a look at the trailer.
